Fun with COVID-19 reporting in MA (and elsewhere)

Cases continue to decline, hospital use continues to decline, all good things.... but there's something strikingly disappointing with the numbers coming out the last few days and it has to do with deaths. Earlier this week it looked like we had seen several weeks of slightly declining deaths.  Not a significant decline but still a decline.  It had looked like the weeks of Dec 27 and Jan 3 had tied for the top of the second wave of deaths, reaching 71.71 and that we had gone down to 70.14 the following week and 67.71 the week of Jan 17.  It looked like there was a blip the last week of January with 69.57 but this was still lower than the top of the wave... Today, however, the week of Dec 27 had an average 72 cases, which is not alarming on its own, but where the decline looked to come in Jan 10 and continued Jan 17, we now see slightly less of a decrease the week of Jan 10 with the number ticking up slightly to 70.57, and worse, Jan 18 is now at 71.14 and Jan 24 is at 72,...
