Fun with MA COVID-19 Reporting 03-Dec-2020 edition

(sorry for the foul language later but... well, to be sincere for a moment, if my language disturbs you more than the story it's painting, I don't want to know you)

"PLEASE NOTE: Today's case numbers include 680 tested by one Massachusetts-based laboratory prior to December 1..." oh stop... just stop....  I don't care, I so very much don't care... but the fact that you care enough to have a full-page note for 3 lines of text about how today's reported cases includes 680 cases suggests to me that you are trying to distract from a few things.... hmmm, I wonder what those could be...

Perhaps it's the case count from Monday which is already 3,804... last Thursday, the previous Monday's case count had been 1,967.  Today, that same Monday is sitting at 3,585.  This Monday is ALREADY the highest case count day of any bar none... Yes, last week's Monday's count nearly doubled in the week since last Thursday but this past Monday is ALREADY higher than it.  HOLY FUCK...ok, but maybe it's making up for the super low count from Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving?  Well, that seems potentially except that HOLY FUCK Thursday had more cases already than any day prior to Nov 16 and Saturday (I'll remind you that weekend days tend to have 1/4 to 1/2 the case count that a weekday from the surrounding weeks do) had more cases except 2 until Nov 9.  No, seriously, Saturday is only surpassed by the 2 highest weekdays in April and 13 other days in November.  And that should also tell you something about November but we'll come back to that later.  ALSO... Tuesday, this Tuesday, 2 FUCKING days ago ... ok, 2 days prior to last Thursday had 513 cases as of last Thursday.... this past Tuesday had 3290 cases 3 2 9 0 ! ALREADY HIGHER THAN ALL BUT 4 DAYS EVER WITH A WEEK TO GO BEFORE STABILIZING!  FUCK!  I don't care that you have 680 more cases reported from prior to Dec 1 that suddenly jumped the numbers for today's reported count when we have record numbers like this.

Last week's deaths are now at 32.4 per day... The week prior was 26.8 per day which was already more than any other week since JUNE 7...  Oh, and 37 people died on Monday which is reached only by 2 days since June 12... oh, and Tuesday, the last reported day in the DateofDeath list is 25 already (the last reported day has been increasing by >10 the next day for a while now so you can expect Tuesday's deaths to be >35 tomorrow).

FUCK YOU BAKER!

Statewide positive test rate reached 5.29% and non-higher ed positive test rate reached 7.32%... we haven't had 7.32% since June (you know, before higher ed started doing massive numbers of tests on mostly negative people). FUCK!

Hospitalizations, a more important figure than the positive test rate, increased by 65 yesterday... surpassed by only 2 days going back to April 21... when were those 2 days? 2 days ago and 4 days ago.  ICU usage went down by 3 but has still increased by 24% in the last 7 days.... that's right, in the last 7 days ICU usage went from 211 to 261.  Unlike, ICU usage, intubations increased slightly... and overall has increased by 28% in the last 7 days.  And since we're comparing 7-day increases, let's jump back to hospitalizations generally which increased by 37% in the last 7 days.  But sure, Baker, the way to resolve all this is by opening up more beds in convention centers, I mean, makeshift hospitals.

Stay safe. Stay sane. Stay informed. Stay FUCKING PISSED AT BAKER.
