Fun with MA COVID-19 Reporting 05-Dec-2020 edition

Two days ago, my post was full of cursing due to having seen Monday and Tuesday from this week already above 3,000 and Monday already being the highest case count we had ever seen, the death rate continuing to climb, hospitalizations climbing significantly recently and the positivity test rate being higher than it has been in months, and Gov Baker is doing nothing to stop the spread.

Yesterday, I reported about how Monday and Tuesday had already reached more than 4,000 cases each, death rates were continuing to climb, and that hospitals are filling up, and Gov Baker is doing nothing to stop the spread.

Today...... ok, let me step back and remind you that at the peak of our wave in April we saw 2,990 cases in a single day.  Until this week, the highest we've seen was 3,790 which was last Tuesday's count.

Monday through Thursday now sit at 5,041, 5,020, 4,119, and 3,097 each.  If past is prologue, Wednesday and Thursday will see a triple digit increase (at least) in tomorrow's report.  And Baker doesn't think we should do anything to slow the spread.

Starting June 6 and continuing through last Friday we had not seen a single day where more than 40 people died from COVID-19.  In the 6 reported days since, 3 days have had 40+ deaths each... and the last reported day will likely be above 40 tomorrow if increases continue to track (that being that the day after a particular day's deaths are first reported, the count jumped by double digits).  And Baker doesn't think we should do anything to slow the spread.

Hospital use, on all 3 elements (non-ICU beds, ICU beds, and intubations) continue to climb.  But don't worry because we're opening up field hospitals and looking for anybody with healthcare experience to help out.

Stay safe. Stay sane. Stay informed. Stay caring about people, since clearly Baker doesn't.
