Massachusetts COVID-91 Cluster Review (25-Mar-2021 Data)

Data is from Feb 21 to Mar 20.

Housing-related clusters not included, because those cases are really caused from spread from somewhere else, child care continues to be far beyond all other spreaders.  They are roughly where they were at the last check.  It's almost like kids really do spread this disease.  Colleges & Universities were surprisingly good at containing clusters in the fall but they seem to have relaxed since then, just like everyone else, though there are slightly fewer cases this time... maybe it was mostly that they did a horrible job when bringing students back?  Restaurants re-opening appears to have caused greater spread as they more than doubled the cases (with roughly the same number of clusters) as last review... and we can expect the same from K-12 schools next as they're forced to return to in-person over the next month (they've already increased their case counts by the way).  Organized Athletics/Camps also saw their case count increase somewhat dramatically, increasing from 116 cases to 173.  One more comment, clusters at places of worship seem to cause much more spread per cluster than others with nearly 7 cases per cluster as opposed to the 1-3 per 28-day window for others.
  • Child Care Tier - Child Care is on its own tier given that they have so many more than others with 369 cases in the 28 day window caused from 253 clusters.
  • Colleges & Universities Tier - Colleges and Universities also get their own given the distance between them and the next up... they had 270 cases from 92 clusters
  • Organized Athletics/Camps tier - one more standalone tier, 173 cases from 73 clusters
  • Low 100's
    • Restaurants & Food Courts - 114 cases from 38 clusters
    • Industrial Settings - 107 cases from 53 clusters
    • Social Gatherings - 105 cases from 30 clusters
  • upper double-digits
    • K-12 Schools - 86 cases from 47 clusters
    • Places of Worship - 73 cases from just 11 clusters.
    • Hospitals - 69 cases from 23 clusters
    • Retail & Services - 59 cases from 43 clusters
  • Lower double-digits
    • Recreation/Cultural - 43 cases from 13 clusters
    • Other Workplaces - 32 cases from 22 clusters
    • Offices - 31 cases from 17 clusters
    • Other Food Establishments - 15 cases from 19 clusters
    • Other Healthcare - 11 cases from 12 clusters
