Fun with MA COVID-19 Reporting 21-Jul-2021 Edition

Another day, another dramatic and disturbing bit of information.

3 weeks ago, there was 1 day that reached 100 cases and that day reached only 104.
2 weeks ago, there were only 2 days that reached 150 and they reached 153 and 156 respectively.
Last week... last week there is now no day other than Sunday that had under 200 cases and 3 days that are just over 300.  Saturday is already twice as high as the highest single day from 3 weeks ago and this past Sunday is already topping 200 with days to go before we know the final tally... and remember that weekend days tend to be dramatically lower case counts than weekdays.  Also, we now see that last week had roughly 2.2 times as many cases as the directly preceding week and 3.2 times as many cases as the week before that.

Ok, so, that's bad but it's not like super-dramatically worse than yesterday when we knew that 3 of the  considering that we knew that 3 of the days last week were in the mid to high 290s and that there was no weekday below 250 and that we had doubled the week before's cases and tripled the week before that one's cases.

You know what is dramatically different today?  Monday, just 2 days ago, with days to go before it stops increasing, is ALREADY at 332!  You have to go back to May 20 to find a single day increase that high.  Admittedly, aside from Sunday of last week, every day has been higher than any day prior to last week going back to late May and 3 of them are high enough to get back to May 21 before you find a higher single-day count.... but those are all nearly done tallying up their final counts.  This Monday's counts are fresh and very much still growing.

Stay safe.  Stay informed.
