Fun with MA COVID-19 Reporting 02-Aug-2021 Edition (Clusters)

Just a friendly reminder that the residence-based settings are removed on account of, well, you can't really prevent spread within a place of living, the whole effort has to be preventing it from spreading outside and coming in.

Given that we're back to October 2020 levels of spread and many places are racing into the CDC's "substantial transmission" definition, we'll forego the comment I've been making lately about reduced risk and using these as a guide of what places to limit your activity in...

Restaurants & Food Courts and Social Gatherings continue to be numbers 1 and 2 and both have sped up their spread, but one of them outperformed the other dramatically.

  • Extra High Tier - Restaurants apparently decided enough was enough and ended the question of whether there was a race between them and Social Gatherings
    • Restaurants & Food Courts - 27 clusters causing 265 cases (this was 28 clusters/57 cases just last week)
  • Hi Tier
    • Social Gatherings - 33 clusters causing 126 cases (9 clusters/47 cases just last week)
  • Medium Tier
    • Child Care - 15 clusters causing 37 cases (starting to creep back up, roughly twice the number of cases though a couple fewer clusters)
    • Other - 3 clusters causing 29 cases (jumping up from near non-existent remaining clusters and no cases last week)
    • Hospitals - 7 clusters causing 26 cases (jumping up from 7 cases last week)
    • Travel & Lodging - 2 clusters causing 23 cases (jumping up from no clusters/cases last week)
    • Industrial Settings - 6 clusters causing 14 cases (slightly down from 20 cases last week)
    • Recreational/Cultural - 1 cluster causing 12 cases (jumping up from no clusters/cases last week)
    • Organized Athletics & Camps - 3 clusters causing 11 cases (up from 5 cases last week)
  • Low Tier -
    • Places of Worship - 4 clusters causing 9 cases (doubling their 4 cases last week)
    • Other Workplaces - 6 clusters causing 9 cases (nearly doubling their 5 cases last week)
    • Colleges & Universities - 2 clusters causing 7 cases (nearly doubling their 4 cases last week)
    • K-12 Schools - 2 clusters causing 5 cases (doubling their 2 cases last week)
    • Other Healthcare - 2 clusters causing 5 cases (same amount of spread as last week)
    • Retail & Services - 1 cluster causing 4 cases (from no clusters/cases last week)
  • No Clusters Remaining Open
    • Offices
    • Other Food Establishments
Stay safe. Stay informed.
