Fun with MA COVID-19 Reporting 06-Dec-2021

As was fully expected, the week of Thanksgiving had fewer overall cases than the preceding week, though more than any week prior going back through February 7, 2021.... and as fully expected, last week had significantly more cases.  We went from 2,473 cases per day to 2,330 to 3,881 (and, with cases from last week still being reported, we will see that increase in the coming days).  This past Thursday saw more cases than any single day going back to January 20, 2021.

Hospitals are filling up quickly with this increased spread and we now see more people hospitalized than any day going back through February 14, 2021, more people in the ICU than any going back through February 23, 2021, and more people intubated than any day going back through February 27, 2021.  And we're holding steady with the percentage of those that were fully vaccinated when hospitalized: currently 34% but has been bouncing around the mid-to-upper 30's going back to early October.  This filling up is why we're seeing elective procedures having to be paused as of last week at some hospitals.

Stay safe.  Stay informed.
